How can I research the stopping distance for a car?

I read in a magazine that the car I'm looking at had the worst stopping distance of its class a few years ago. I'd like to see if they've since improved it, but I can't seem to find stopping distance listed on any sites. Where can I find it?

If you live in England they are shown in the "Highway code."
