Was trying to clean out my drain when it got blocked, so i opened up the drain and the water came gushing out and struck the powerpoint, which tripped the safety switch. When i went to reset the safety switch it wouldn't flick back on and the "earth fault indicator" had been triggered. How can i get the switch back on - is the only way to call an electrician?

  1. Turn of main switch. Turn off appliances. Turn on main switch. Reset RCD (earth fault indicator). Turn on appliances one by one, the one that trips the RCD, get checked by an electrician/ appliance technician.

  2. sounds like you still have water in the power point, creating a fault path from active to earth, thus you safety switch (RCD tripping) give it some time to dry out, if that fails, call a sparky to investigate
