I have a Dell desktop bought in 2004 and I'm trying to restore it to factory settings. The only thing I can find in the control panel is a time restore and it only goes back to July. Also, all I can find is F2=Set Up and F12=Reboot.

  1. Dell might have built pc recovery into your computer which lets you restore your computer to the way it was when it first left the factory. The one you find in control panel is called system restore but it doesn't restore your computer to factory settings.

If the factory restore option is installed in your computer, which I have no clue whether you have it or not, restart your computer. When the Dell Logo comes out, press F8 or F11. For my laptop, it's F8 but I don't know about your computer but it should be similar. Then you should be given an option to restore to factory settings. If you don't see the screen, it means you don't have the option installed on your computer, sorry.

  2. I know many companies include restore disks with their  computers.  Look for any disks that came with your computer.  If it came with a restore disk, use it.

If not, it might be best to wide the hard drive (backing up anything important of course) and reinstalling the OS.

  3. well if you have windows XP,then when you turn on your computer press down with arrows keys and press enter.

if have windows vista press F8 Then press enter twice
