Question:

How can I retain a positive state of mind?

I just watched the movie "click" and had a sort of life epiphany!

In the movie, the star is granted the ability to pause, fast foward and reverse time to his own enjoyment. Sooner rather than later, he as fast fowarded right to the very end of his life and is filled with deep regret.

The movie's message is philosophical and clear. I can moan about stupid nothings which I can't change or aren't actually there, but why bother? I have the ability to sort out my life now, from now on.

I want to keep that sort of attitude but I don't know if its possible. As soon as someone is mean or nasty about me or i fail I know I am going to come crashing down again :(

    I think this is a great question, and it's cool to be inspired no matter the medium (movies, books, conversation, art, whatever it is).

    I think the expectation that you CAN retain a constant state of mind sets yourself up to feel frustarated and due to "failure" to acheive such a high goal. Instead, I think the key is to KNOW that your state of mind (thoughts and feelings) is not constant, to observe your thoughts and feelings as a third party, to accept your thoughts and feelings without judgement, and to remeber to be compassionate towards yourself and others. These things guide you to a more positive state of BEING.

    These things take practice, and no one among us is perfect. So practice every day. Make each event, encounter, moment an opportunity to try looking at it differently - be the observer.

  2. I know what your saying. Through a strange series of events I recently have an epiphany that has helped me make life altering changes in mind set. A few times I forgot about the lesson I learned and reverted back to my previous way of thinking but from time to time I remind myself of the experience.

    I don't know if this will help but my experience was per found and is something impossible to forget.  

  3. you can always keep that attitude up! one step of 'sorting out your life' is to learn tp just let it go. there's always going to be some one to make an unwanted comment, theres that type of person who will do anything to get a laugh (even if it is at some one elses cost). we all make mistakes or 'fail' sometimes and all it needs is a smile and a little bit of encouragement. :)

  4. Just drink a lot of beer and you will be happy.
