I did well on the math section of the SAT but I just want to retake the reading section. I've heard you can just take certain parts over and I wanted to know how to do it. I've looked for how to do it on collegeboard.com but I couldn't find it.

  1. didn't they allow a new policy where you can take your best score and post them to colleges, i can't wait to see more answers...sorry about that, I'm located in the midwest so ACT is the test we take here/

  2. You always have to take the whole SAT test over again.

You may have misunderstood that certain colleges will accept the highest scores on each individual section of the SAT and create a "superscore" (not the official name, just the popular term).

However, ALL of your SAT scores are sent with ALL of the sections and their respective grades for EVERY test day.

So, colleges will still be able to see if you bomb a section but may only take into account your greatest subscores (however, this may bias them against you, especially if your grades are close to another student's grades that are consistent).

Some colleges may consider only the sections on the test day with the highest combined score.  (I heard that, starting with the class of 2010, the CollegeBoard will allow students to submit only one test date's results.)

    I hope that helps!    :-)
