How can I rip programs from my HDDVR to a DVD? ?

What equipment would I need? Any other advice or tips would be appreciated.

It depends on your DVR.  I use a TiVo HD, which supports TiVo To Go, which allows me to pull off the encrypted video streams from the TiVo.  There's a nifty little program called tivodecode that allows me to decrypt the video into a nice MPEG video format, which I can then burn to DVD with Nero Vision, or encode for other uses (show on Apple TV, etc.) using something like ffmpeg.

Equipment would be your DVR, connected to the same network as your computer, which presumably has a DVD recorder already inside.
