Question:

How can I run a mile as fast as possible with out training months in advance?

I have to run a mile in 7 min. 30 sec. on July 26th I have done sooooooo many things with friends that I haven't had time to train!! I don't know how inthe worl I'm going to make the team please help me with exercises that will make me run faster and longer! thanks!

  1. You can do a lot to train yourself to run a mile in that amount of time. The best training is to sprint for a bit, then jog, sprint, then jog. Go back and forth. You will see that you will build the stamina and the muscles to handle it.

    Keep running and you will do fine!

  2. First of all 7:30 isn't that fast. Also you need to train to get better times I'd recommend going out and running a mile 5 days a week.

  3. girl, im sorry, but you've had plenty of time. all you had to do was set aside like an hour a day to train, hanging with your friends won't be  a valid excuse for whatever you're trying out for. my suggestion, is that you run like 2 hours a day until then, but if you arent already in shape, you probably won't make the team.

  4. run the mile see how fast you can do it now.  That will give you a base for how much you need to work.

    1 day pace work 1 day distance work

    pace work day

    3x400 @ 6:45 min pace

    1x800 @ 7:00 min pace

    distance day

    run 2 miles @ 8:30 pace

    pace

    1x400 @ 6:45 pace

    2x800 @ 7:00 pace

    keep doing stuff like that

    NOTE:

    take about 2 minutes inbetween each of the 400's and 800's

    just enough time to catch your breath, but not enough for your heart to slow down all the way.

  5. Have you been running at all?

    You can't just start training the week before and expect to do well. Running requires a lot of dedication. There are really no excuses. You didn't have to go hang out with your friends.

    In the future, you need to manage your time better. Such as, make a lunch date with your friends, and train after dinner. Or go running in the morning and hang with your friends in the evening.

    Its July 22nd, you have 4 days....idk if you have been running at all or not. But if you haven't then i wish you the best.

You don't need to train to "run as fast as possible".  The fact that you are doing the best you can means you are running as fast as possible.   Obviously making the team was not as important to you as being with your friends.  It was your choice not to train, so live with it.  Maybe you should adjust your priorities.

  7. It seems like you're not dedicated so truthfully you probably won't be able to do it. But you still have some time left. Put on 10 lb ankle weights and jump in them. Find something about 8 ft high. Jump and touch this thing 100 times without stopping. Then take a 5 minute break and do it again. Do 4 sets of 100 3 times a day. Thats 1200 each day. Do this today, tomorrow, and the next day. On the 25th only do it in the morning and rest for the rest of the day so your muscles can heal. Ice your legs daily. Good luck!
