I'm going into my freshman year of high school and I'm planning on joining the track team. However, I haven't been active in awhile. I'm not overweight by any means, but I'm a little out of shape and I want to know how I can increase my speed and especially learn how can I run longer without getting winded.

  1. I think you should start jogging or running in a big field. It really helps you get faster and longer. I increased my speed by playing a tag with my friends. It was a long time ago. I hope this helped.     ;)

  2. start out running a distance comfortable for you and then each time you do it sprint a little bit to push yourself.

  3. when starting off try to do many long slow runs, slowly increasing your distance instead of your speed.  Once you are feeling confident in your distances you can work on your speed.  Try running very hard for intervals of time then resting intervals.  You can do a minute or two warm up jog, then run a very hard pace for 2-3 minutes then take a minute jog to regain your breath then do another 2-3 minute hard pace you can repeat this up to five times or you can do 3-4 minutes @ hard pace and only do 2-3 of them.  You should only do this once or so a week and remember to take it easy the next day because your muscles will be sore and vulnerable to injury.

  4. ALWAYS REMEMBER TO WARM UP! #1 STRETCHING 2# MINI JOG 3# JUMPING JACKS 4# ARMS TO FOOT .... (its also kinda stretching but it lengthens legs which help in speed) after that make sure that u don't get tired fast .... jogging helps ur lungs accumulate more air everytime u run..... breathing is also important ... essential to ur stamina ofcourse ..... and dnt forget to exercise using sit ups it actually helps in breathing capacity too .... including pull ups and push ups .... curl ups too
