How can I safely check my credit score? (I'm not doing anything online)

You can just download a credit report request from the credit bureau(s) Equifax and/or Transunion. Note the cost of the report and then send a cheque or money order for that amount and they'll send you a credit report with score...no credit card needed.

Check with equifax, transunion, and experian.  Use the online form, phone, or mail service.  You get a free report once a year.  You don't get a score in those though, you have to pay.
