Question:

How can I safely empty the powder out of shotgun shells?

The shells are a for a 410 shotgun and I have both slugs and birdshot and I would like to know the safest way to get the gunpowder out intact.

  1. cut open the shell

    or just go buy a jug of gunpowder, they sell it loose so reloaders an reload their shells


  2. well the bottom part which is the part without the metal piece is made of palstic ad you shouldbe able to cut that piece out in the circle shape and then dump the powder.

  3. you'd be better off just buying the gunpowder.  Your wasting the pellets, primer, shell, wad, everything.  You should just go buy gunpowder.  

    But if you insist on wasting your money just cut them open and remove the bb's and get the powder out.  As long as you don't mess with the primer or around any heat or sparks you should be ok.

    Too much work for so little powder, just go buy a can.

  4. The plastic hull cuts easily.  A hack saw would make quick work of it.
