  1. Use coupons and sometimes you can ask for 2 plates and divide up the meal.  Most meals are pretty large and you could easily make 2 meals out of one meal.   Go on nights they are having special( like 2 for one etc).  This is what we do and it saves money.

  2. Go to fast food places and order off the dollar menu.

  3. Many times I eat off the appetizer menu because portion sizes are so large anyway.  Otherwise I opt for sandwiches because they are usually cheaper than dinners.  If they don't have any coupons, split a dinner with someone.  Order water instead of pop/coffee/alcohol, it's always free.  If you can't afford to tip your server, don't go at all 10% is unacceptable. Your server is trying to make a living 15-20% is expected (for excellent service, of course).

  4. Don't eat the most expensive entrees.  Eat something that isn't too cheap nor too expensive....."just right"  Also, don't feel like you need to leave a lot of money for tip, just what's right also depending if the waiter did a good job.  10 to 15% is okay for tipping.

  5. Have a salad at home before you go! And think about making an appetizer your main meal, this way you get a bit of everything that is being offered without spending so much! :)

  6. WOW.  I can't believe someone in here said 10-15% is okay for tipping.  Anyway...

Best way to knock $2+ off your check is to drink water.  If you toss in a few lemons, no matter what type of water it is, it won't be that bad.  Even more so.. bring some powder singles.. You know, Crystal Light etc.  You may look cheap, but, whatever...

Also, do some research and find a lot of restaurant coupons.  Then try to limit where you go to the coupons you have.

Don't go for appetizers before your entree, or desert.

BUT, no matter how much money you're looking to save.. Only tip under 15% if the service was horrible.  Anything less, you just ensured that if your server ever sees you outside of his place of employment, she/he may try to take revenge.

  7. tip your waitress less. haha!

& do not order more then you think you can eat.
