I've been growing a garden every year now for the past 3 years. This is my first year growing pumpkins. I planted the plants in June, expecting them to not yield until September/October. However my pumpkins are orange now (August 26th) and the stems are already starting to turn brown and due to powdery mildew, the plant itself is dying. Halloween is a little over 2 months away, is there anyway I can save my pumpkin (methods, etc.) for halloween? Or will it rot before then?

  1. Keep it cool and dry.  Do not let it get any holes in it, or it will rot quickly.  I've kept uncut pumpkins outside as decorations for several months.

For Halloween, I paint on one side with acrylic paints.  After Halloween, I turn the painted side around, so it just looks like a fall decoration.
