  1. You have to have external software that will allow you to use a print driver and "print" the document to PDF format.  We user FinePrint PDF.

  2. Install PDF Creator.  It's free at:  http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreat...

  3. There are many ways to get a "kinda/sorta .pdf file".  If you want a .pdf file that conforms to the .pdf spec, get Adobe Acrobat (not the reader, the full program).  Otherwise you create .pdfs that don't work right for anything but viewing and printing.  (It depends on your intended audience - some people never do more than read or print a .pdf document.)

  4. Microsoft offers a free plug-in for Office programs to convert to PDF format.

Pdf995, PrimoPDF, CutePDF or SourceForge PDFCreator are free alternatives to Adobe Acrobat which will allow you to save your document to PDF format. Once one of these are installed you can simply "print" from your document to PDF.

If you don't want to download software you can convert your document online for free at pdfonline.com
