I use a program called Free FLV converter.  It also will convert the video to iPod format so that it can be put on an iPod.  If you want to do that too.

Technically it's legal as long as you don't use it to get copywrited videos. Even though a large portion of youtube videos are copywrited if you avoid those then it's not considered illegal
