How can I schedule my Archos and TV to record?

Question

I have bought the Archos 605 and have successfully recorded many TV programmes straight on to the device. However, to do this it seems I have to be 'present' i.e. firstly to play back the recording (via Sky+) and then to press the record button (I still haven't managed to work the scheduler).

That seems to defeat the object!

Can you help with either. The delayed playing back of recorded TV is more important.

You have to first sync your device and your cable box.  I have an archos 504 but I am assuming it is close to the same.  Once you do this you will be able to not be present and the device will even turn the channels for you to the right one.

You might just want to buy the archos tv thing they have now that just lets you record the shows to the cradle and then you just upload your shows to the archos.

left press the menu button and you should get a screen that has languages, display, etc.

Click TV control

Pick what tv tuner you are using and then pick the model.  Make sure the archos device is next to it and it should be able to pick up the devices signal.  Click Tune IR emitter and you will see the test on/off.  If it is working then when you click it this should turn your cable box on and off

Then you pick how many digits it goes up to.  Probably 3 if you have digital cable or satellite.  The delay just means it pauses a little between each number like channel 123 would pause a few secs btwn the 1 2 3 so that it doesnt miss a channel.  It is turning the channels like a remote control

Once they are connected you should be able to schedule whatever shows you want to record without being there under tv scheduler.

Like I said, this is how to do it on the 504, but that doesnt have wifi, etc.  So you might have all these extra recording features mine doesnt.  Usually the set ups are the same though.
