try going to the yahoo home page for aussie www.yahoo.com.au then type in what you want and it all comes up

Try going all the way down to the bottom of YA page....

There you will see a bunch of little flags which represent their country's name right next to it....

So just click on the flag icon or word of Australia

I did some digging for you and found out that the Yahoo membersearch may not be helpful always. If however you know your friend's nick, you may use link #2. Adding a nick after "com/" will show a user's profile.
