  1. just go to the official beijing olympics website

  2. just google medal count USA has 19 gold and china has 35 gold but USA has the total metal count of 65 china got 61 total

  3. It is not an error, it is the Amercian offical medal tally…. for the time being, until USA gets more gold than China

  4. Go here instead:

    http://results.beijing2008.cn/WRM/ENG/IN...

  5. http://sports.yahoo.com/olympics/beijing...

  6. This isn't an error. Instead, it is a rather embarrassing attempt to disguise the fact that the USA is losing this Olympics. Historically and officially, the medal count has always been by number of gold medals won. If there is a tie in the number of gold medals, silver medals are considered next, and finally bronze. Which is more important, having the most Olympic champions, or having the most athletes that lost?

In past years, the US media has consistently used the official IOC method when displaying the medal count. However, in this Olympics, using the official method would result in the USA being listed in second place. That is clearly unacceptable. So for propaganda purposes, the US media uses the total medal count rather than the official method.

So the simple answer to your original question is: you can't.
