I don't have a physical address to ship to, just a P.O. box number in Alajuela.

  1. You can send it to a PO box the same way you send anything.

    (Name of individual)

Apartado (PO box number you have)

    Alajuela

    San Jose, Costa Rica

"Apartado" means "post office box".  So just address it as so, and it should send just fine :-)

  2. In addition to what others have said, I would make sure not to declare it to be worth a lot. They will meticulously inspect it if it is declared to be worth a lot and also probably charge you huge tariffs especially if it is a large package. A family friend in Costa Rica was mailed a Christmas ornament from her mom and customs in Costa Rica declared it to be a car part and charged her (huge) tariffs as such.

  3. Just mail it like you would mail it to any other P.O. box, write the name of the person, and instead of "P.O. Box" write:

    Apartado Postal (and the number)

    Alajuela, Costa Rica

that's it! (don't write "San José".  Alajuela is a province, so is San José, it's not the same area...)

    Good luck!

P.D.: they're gonna ask you what's in the box.

  4. Go to the post office. they will mail anything(almost) to anywhere in the world.

  5. The APDO (PO BOX)  will work.  When you go to the post office to send it you will have to fill out a form for Customs stating what is in the package.  Depending what it is as to wether or not it will go thru Customs.  Easiest if you say it is used whatever it is.  Or a present
