Most phones you would just text it. The closest the 3g can do is email it.

OMG! i just got the iphone 3g and love it, but then i tried to send a picture to my friend - and no dice.... ridiculously disappointing (much like my use of verb tenses in that sentence).

Anyways though, all hope isn't lost- you can email pictures to an actual cell phone number.  I discovered this when i had verizon and wanted to transfer cell phone pictures to my computer. I would format a picture message and just send it to my yahoo email (instead of another cell phone number). From doing this i discovered my cell-email address thing was just my "7 digit verizon cell #@vzwpix.com". So all you have to do is have a friend from each one of the major carriers email you a text or picture message from their cell and you can see the email address of the cell phone. So as i said, to a send a picture to a verizon member's cell phone, just email it to "#@vzwpix.com".
