How can I set up my own internet radio station for free?

Question

I need to be able to select what I play on my station

I need to be able to name it

I really don't want a domain name, but if I have to I will

I want to receive money from sponsors once my radio station is up and running

If you want truly free internet broadcasting, go to http://www.shoutcast.com and download both the shoutcast server software and the most recently updated version of Winamp from http://www.winamp.com . READ THE README that comes with the shoutcast software to get on air. From there you can give the people that will be listening to your station, your station name to look up on shoutcast.com, or your broadcast IP address to link to your stream. (The Shoutcast Forums will explain what I'm talking about)

Be Aware!!! Free does not mean good! Using this method will allow you to play music across the internet, but it will not sound like a professional radio station by any means!

I use SAM Broadcaster (from http://www.spacialaudio.com ) to broadcast my station. But I paid 200.00 for the program, plus the cost of my streams, and I'm about to shell out 300.00 for scheduling software to help schedule the music and breaks in a way that sounds more professional that what SAM can offer. Now mind you, I'm paying for all this and I still don’t have a single client!

This is by no means the "FREE" path you were asking about, but to broadcast on the internet you can do it one of two ways.....The "FREE" way....or.... The "RIGHT" way. It's your choice.
