  1. Coincidentally i did this last week... you have to open the system  unit and put the router inside.... it's pretty hard... but it works!

  2. Once you connect for the first time to any computer then the PC will 'remember' the settings(simply put!).

After that then the router just 'does it's own thing' until an authorised PC automatically connects.

  3. Just connect it to your modem......

  4. This is an odd quesiton, but I am going to assume that you mean you want to use the router solely as a wireless router, rather than having to have a PC attatched to it via hard wire. You can definitely do that. You should actually be able to to it right out of the box. Just plug in the router, plug your modem into your router and turn the wireless on your laptop on. You should be able to connect, although, unsecurely along with everyone else in your neighborhood. Make sure that you read the quickstart guide or instruction manual for your router on how to set up wireless security. You will want to configure the router through your browser (usually just type 192.168.0.1 into the address bar), then configure the different options. WPA2 is the most secure method. Just make sure you pick a proper password that is very complex. And no, p@ssw0rd is not a complex password.

  5. I don't understand - routers do work independent of computers, you don't have to connect one, but you can't do much without!

  6. You must have a wireless card reciever install on your computer first, if its a laptop they have them built-in (wifi) turn it on.

You attach the router to the modem. next right click on the network icon in the taskbar > connect to a network or lauch config utilities > highlight your router and connect.

  8. You should only have to connect to it the first time to adjust any settings and setup security. After that you no longer have to connect to it via ethernet cable.
