  1. Download windows live.

    Works great.

you have to have a hotmail account or a live account for Windows live to work with your desktop.

Outlook is usefull only if you work on a networked environment. You would have to get the POP3 service from the emailing service of your choice for outlook to work w/ your desktop if you are not networked.

  2. If you are using Firefox you cna change the Mailto: to webmail ,though i think yahoo and Gmail are the only ones supproted.

Tools - Options - Applications - type "Mailto" and form drop dwon list choose Yahoo mail. ( more are to be supported)

or go to the link below and try out the add-ons

or jsut set up Outlook to use hotmail. though thats a diffrent question.

  3. If you're using Internet Explorer, go to

Extras/Internet options/Programs and choose your default mail program.

With outlook you need a POP3 sccount. Yahoo free mail doesn't support it but some other mail providers do.

  4. For hotmail, you can use Windows Live Mail (free download from get.live.com). Set there your sign-in details and then right-click on start -> Properties -> Own... -> Show in start - E-mail : and choose Windows Live Mail

(works for Vista, but its not so much different in XP)
