  1. Yes but you will need a switch and ethernet cables. When you set up your friends computer you want to use ICS (internet connection sharing) When you run the internet connection wizard on his use the option "This computer connects to the internet through another computer on the network" You will need to run the network setup wizard on both computers. To share the dialup your computer will have to be connected to the internet already. He wont be able to initiate a connection from his.

  2. Yikes!

Like he said above, expensive equipment. But, I have it.

You would probably need to host your own internet company. Good luck with that!

  3. Sorry, but you cannot do that, at least without ease. That would require expensive equipment.

    He should look into DSL.

  4. I assume you want him to be able to dialup from his house to yours and browse the internet through that connection. His speed would be limited to the modem connection speed (meaning slower than a direct dialup account on the internet).

Both of you will need a modem (faster the better) and a phone line/number to dedicate during the connection.

Create an incoming connection on your PC (lookup incoming connections in help and support) and ensure TCP and 'allow callers to access my local area network' are enabled.

Setup up a dial-up connection (to your pc) on his pc.

He would make the dial-up connection, and start the internet.

Remember you are giving him access to your computer, so don't p**s him off.
