  1. If you can't drive it, tow it behind a rental truck. I did this for about $700 (including gas) for about the same distance.

  2. Rail is typically not the way to go.  You should consider a vehicle transport that will ship the vehicle, in most cases, by truck.  Some will use rail for very specific routes, but no often.

The best way to find a company is to do one or more of the following:

    1.  View ratings, reviews and shipping costs for transporting vehicle at:  http://www.transportreviews.com/  There are over 5,000 ratings and reviews from past customers.  There is also a tool to give you the costs you should expect to pay.  For example right now it shows that two others have moved from NV to NY and the average cost was $1,100 (which seems high).  So you might want to try...

    2.  Fill out a form online and get multiple quotes from a site like http://www.autotransporter.com/   This site only gets quotes from companies that are well rated on Transport Reviews.

    I hope that is helpful.

  3. BETTER IDEA.  Put an ad on craigslist in both cities that you're looking for a driver to take it to Albany.  At the very least, you'll find someone to take it to NYC and then it's only 3.5 hrs away.

  4. It would be less expensive and much more convenient to ship your automobile by truck.  Check out this web site for more information...

  5. union pacific railways

  6. I don't know, but if you flew me from Albany to Vegas between mid-December and mid-January, I'd drive it back for you.

  7. That would be very expensive considering the car would have to change trains several times; I would suggest hiring a flatbed, but it would probably cost about $2000.00

  8. I don't know but it might be better to ship by truck. Contact someone like the Las Vegas Auto Auction and ask. They probably know who could do it for you.
