How can I show a 35 mile radius from one address on a map?

...using a computer program or a macro. I get the compass trick...however I need to do this with over 50 points on a NCAL map.

  1. Use a compass.

    Depending on the legend of the map, (which is a number line on the map) will represent , for example, zero to twenty miles equals one inch.

    (Check the map for your correct scale. But in this example, we are using 1"=20 miles, O.K? )

    So, If one inch equals twenty miles, then fifteen miles in this example is equal to  0.75 of an inch

    If 1.0" = 20 miles , then  0.75" = 15 miles, then add these and get 1.75", or 35 mile radius.       20+15=35  

    Radius is 35 miles.

    Now set your compass to 1.75" and place the pointer in the center or town you are starting from and make a circle with the compass.  Now you have your map. That was easy.


  2. determine the distance 35 miles represents using the legend and draw a circel around your start point.  a piece of string makes a great temporary compass or mark off the distance with a ruler on compass points and connect the dots.
