How can I show how War is.....

an example of the importance of georaphy to a certain country. For example, Lets say the counrty is Turkey...how does war in turkey show the importance of geography?

I'm going to use a different nation in my example.  Look at Iran.  It is on the straits of Hormuz.  If attacked it will surely try to block the straits and cut off oil tanker traffic for about 40 percent of the world's crude oil.
