Question:

How can I show my appreciation for my company hiring me as my summer internship ends next week?

It's a small engineering company of about 23-25 employees and I was the first intern they have ever hired. I didn't particularly like working there but I still want to show my appreciation. Is a thank you card in order, or something more extravagant like a general office meeting where I say thank you and goodbye? Thanks for any help!

  1. A thank you note preferrably on monarch stationery with your name + contact info and addressed to either the president of the company or the person who hired you would be most appropriate.

    Start out... "Dear <first name>

"I wanted to express my deepest thanks for allowing me the opportunity of employment for a professional firm such as yours."

Continue by stating some positive experiences you had and express your hope that they were benefitted from your experience as well.

Close by reiterating your gratitude and your desire to remain long-lasting friends--personally and professionally.

Probably some of the proudest moments business people have is if they can take someone "under their wing" and guide them through entrepreneurship and career.
