Question:

How can I sleep through the night (breaking bad habits)?

I recently got a new mattress set and it's great! I sleep more soundly now (I used to wake up several times in the night on the old mattress).

The problem is that now I wake up after about 6 hours of sleep and I can't go back to sleep. I think this 6 hours of good sleep is equivelant to the 8 hours of not-so-good sleep I got before, but it's not good enough. I still have bags under my eyes and I still get tired during the day.

How can I sleep soundly for 7-8 hours or go back to sleep after waking up?

**No drugs please.

  1. You need to start a bedtime routine and stick to it. It will tell your body it is time to sleep.  Avoid caffeine and liquids 2 hours before bed. When you wake up, try drinking a glass of milk (it does not have to be warm) and going straight back to bed.  If you do the same thing every night, and then go right back to bed when you wake up eventually your body will learn what it needs to do.

If you are waking up after six hours, I am guessing it is either caffeine, spicy foods or having to use the bathroom.  Try to cut out these out.

    :) Good Luck :)
