Question:

How can I speed me "INDEFINITE LEAVE TO REMAIN" application in the UK?

I came to the uk on a 2 year spousal visa and on the end of it I applied for ILR in Nov 07, which was rejected but then i appealed it in Tribunal and won. i have since May 08 been waiting for my passport to come back with the sticker. I heard horror stories of it taking months, in some situation more than a year. I need my passport urgently as its my only picture Id and was almost denied to sit my exams in June after crying they allowed me, but what warned i would not be given the same treatment for septembers exam. I have applied to university and they want to see my passport with ilr. If i dont i will have trouble registering and i wont apply for uk fees, and international university fees are ridiculous. Please can somebody advise me how to tell them to speed it up, and do u think my situation is critical enough they will? because basically i will fail my exam in sept for not being able to sit and and not get into uni ???

  1. It's probably a good idea to give them a phonecall. Then, if you don't get a satisfactory response I think that you need to take this up with the Citizens Advice Bureau, a solicitor, or your local MP. Preferably all three.

It has only been a couple of months but they shouldn't take your passport until they are ready to put the visa in.

    Don't panic yet.
