Question:

How can I split audio so it's on both the left and right tracks?

Okay, so I have my 8mm video camera. It only has the white audio cable and not the red (so I have the yellow and white). I'm digitizing the video, but I only have left audio, and it bothers me. Can I somehow get this on the right too? Thanks.

  1. Hello,

Base on your explanations, I assume you have no problem in getting the video into your computer. You fail to mention the software you are using.

I would like to share my experience on the same situation. I am using ULEAD VideoStudio Ver 11.5. Get your video into Ulead VideoStudio Timeline. Go to 'Audio View'. On the Attribute tab, use 'Duplicate audio Channel' function and you could choose either to duplicate 'left' or 'right' audio.

The best part with this solution, I don't have a separate Video and Audio track. This make my editing job easier as to synchronize Video and Audio track flawlessly is not an easy task.

    Hope that I could help.

    Best Regards.

  2. You can extract the audio and then use an editor like Audacity to copy the left to the right.  The details will depend on which Video  editor you're using.  In Sony's Vegas family, for instance, you can define an external audio editor.
