I want to help very young children get a head start in learning how to read. Or help older children who might be struggling. How might I go about doing this?

  1. if you want to start your own program, you need a licence to teach. and you need the proper licences to teach depending on what grade level you are trying to teach. where do you plan to teach? because you will need an office.

if you really just want to help, you don't need documentation, but if you plan to charge them for your services, then you do need the proper paperwork and qualifications.

  2. don't schools offer the tutoring sessions?

  3. talk to the school people

  4. start from school

  5. Why don't you explore tutoring online to begin with?  If you are not a teacher already this can give you a way to get a feel for helping students.

  6. I would contact several of your local elementary schools, to see if they would let you start a tutoring program. Many schools are wanting people to volunteer their time as mentors and readers. It doesn't take much time or effort to show a child that you care and they usually enjoy the help they receive.

I think this is a wonderful prospect, and hope you are successful with this endeavor.

  7. Contact your school system.

  8. You can always go to a school and ask if they need tutoring help?
