Question:

How can I start babysitting?

I'm 14 years old, and I want to start babysitting.

I love little kids, plus, I could use the extra money.

But, how do I get started?

I haven't babysat before, and I don't know how to start it off.

We don't have any family friends, neighbors, or family that have little kids.

By neighbors, I mean people that we know in the neighborhood very well.

We have plenty of neighbors with kids, though.

I'm CPR certified for infants and adults, but I don't want to babysit little babies.

How should I get started?

I'm very responsible and charismatic, but could you please give me some tips on:

- what to put on fliers

- how to advertise

- how to get started

Thanks!!! =)

  1. start putting out flayers around you neighborhood at laundry mates, corner stores the back of your cars or put them in peoples windshield whippers in a parking lot it works trust me people are so desperate this days for a Babysitter!!!!!!

    hoped i helped:)

  2. Advertise with just your email and don't leave any indicators of your age. Giving your phone numbers is good for prank callers or bad people with wrong intentions. Have your parent meet any call-backs to make sure they aren't bad people (kidnappers, rapists etc.) not to scare you.

The safest places to advertise are...

    Churches (bulletin)

    Parks

    Local Grocery Bulletin

Mailbox (with people you know have kids)

    Docters office's bulletin

Also tell your family members, it will spread and sometimes a aunt and uncle may want to go out and eat for a night off and think of you and give you a ring, never know!

Put that you have low prices, you're very responsible, certified, energetic and friendly with kids. List your price but put in parenthasis (negotiable) just so you know. Put the days you're available, but don't be too specific.

Parents want low, flexible rates ($5 an hour is good) with gas prices and grocery prices, they don't have lots of money to spend to get a night off. That's usually when babysitters work, and parents like how young kids look up to babysitters and enjoy playing with them, better than a grown-up that they don't think is so cool.

ALSO! When you go back to school, talk to your guidence counselor about babysitting, they can be a lot of help! Maybe you can also put on a school bulletin that you can be a "back up" babysitter for other students who may need to turn down a job. A lot of teens turn jobs down sometimes because they may not want to babysit on new years for instance.

    GOOD LUCK!! :)

  3. Well, what you can do is you can put up an ad online or on paper, such as the newspaper, or any other paper that lists ads.

In your ad, you should describe what you like about kids and some things about yourself. List the positive things about yourself.

It is proper if you do not put something like "I need/ want money." or " I need some extra cash."

    Don't put that.

Just say that you are looking for a job.
