Okay, so I have my dreams. I want to act. Ive taken thearte classes and im into set acting. I want to commerical act to see if this is what I truely want. Ive been to onesourcetalent, which was a total scam and I didn't do it. Now I got offered proscout. I want to start off small, rather to jump right into the big stuff. Does anybody know where I can start, or go to audition for a commerical and work my way up?

Im fourteen and I do have acting class experience. I just need a legit place to start. I also would like commerical modeling. I know I can do that already.

  1. There are quite a few steps involved and as you are only 14 right now, many of them may be beyond your reach for the moment. First, most commercials are cast out of NYC or Los Angeles and most teens that you see appearing in commercials are based in either of those cities. Second, the national and regional commercials you see are union commercials falling under either SAG (Screen Actors Guild) or AFTRA (American Federation of Television and Radio Artists) unions. As a beginner actor it will not be necessary for you to worry about joining unions just yet but just so you know, joining AFTRA is as simple as paying your fee, joining SAG is a great deal tougher. You need to build up vouchers and earn your way in. It can take time to do.

Anyway, your best bet for now is to become active in your schools theater department or town as the case may be. Commercial acting is not easy and the competition is unbelievably stiff.
