  1. But I tell you this....

By now Ethiopia is on the way to development. Big cities like Addis Ababa, Awasa, Bahir Dar, Mekele, Diredawa, Dessie, Gondar...etc are now adopting a metroplitan life style. Most people specially the young are too busy working in a day and studying in the night. There's no time left for such things like laundary...

So, if you're planning such business, you should change the way it used to be done....I mean, you should not open a laundary service only with one huge macchine that keeps your clints waiting for a week and more. I suggest you make it some fast service...where you're clints pay and wash their cloths and leave. A month ago when I was in Bahir Dar, the thing I obsrved is that, most people (as I said specially the young ones) are so eager to use & adopt modern stuffs.

Additionally, the coast for the macchines, a place to start this business, manpower....will be so easy for you if you live abroad, for example for someone who wants to invest in Ethiopia or start any kind of business, the GVT allows tax free import of any goods for your business. Or you can simply purchase the materials there in Ethiopia....the price is lower compaired with the currency change you'll get. You capital depends according to the size and quality of your business...But I can asure you that it won't be too much.

For sure you'll be successful if you are going to make it a place for eveyrone....your price shouldn't be too high for the first time so that you can drug attention.

  2. some people are poor, but the ones who can afford it have washing machines in their homes

and if it got broken, they have maids to wash their clothes, so i dont think anyone would be honestly interested

  3. To start with, go around your neighbourhood and see how many people would use a laundry service.

From your own estimates, calculate how much it costs to buy and operate a washing machine at home or hire a maid to wash clothes.

How much would you charge per item of clothing washed?

Is washing at home more expensive than going to your laundromat?

If yes, you might have a chance.

If no, you are out of business.

  4. i think people over there are too poor to pay for services like these.
