How can I start my own blog?

Question

I really want to start my own blog, but I have no idea where to begin. Obviously, I love Yahoo and have had a lot of success with my work on Shine, which is where I got the idea. Does Yahoo have a domain function I can use?

Also, how do I get sponsors? I am looking to supplement/replace my income with revenue from a vital, vibrant blog and those who advertise on it. How can I get paying backers for my blog? Do I need to wait until it gains in popularity, and then see if anyone wants to advertise on it? Or can I solicit companies? And if so, how do I start?

Finally, how much of a capital investment am I looking at? If I register a domain name, what else do I need to spend money on? Do I need to hire a web designer?

You can look at putting Google Adsense, Adbrite, Shareasale, etc. on your blog to get started. Once you have enough visitors and data, you can try to get more ad deals yourself.

Not that much capital to invest to start this. Just need a domain name and host. Recommend you look at Netfirms - http://tinyurl.com/netfirms . Good reputation and easy to setup features with 1 click installer. They have been in business for 10 years. I would suggest using WordPress as your blog platform (you can install this on Netfirms). There are many templates that you can find on the net for free.

You can get a domain through yahoo small business and create your own website for as little as $12 a month.
