That is by far the best question I have come across on Yahoo Answers. Ok here goes:

1) Try to find someone with whom you'd like to start a race. See if your Adam then you have to find an Eve.

2) Get in touch with a linguistic scholar for a new language.

3) Check with some philosophers for a new religion.

4) Right down some guidelines that everyone must follow.

5) If you want your race to be physically fit and good looking, then you have to make sports compulsory. Martial Arts training for both the sexes would be cool.

6) Also keep in mind you need to find another couple apart from yourself if you dont want your children to reproduce with each other. ;)

7) Breed unity and trust within your blood.

8) You need tons of money for your own land. You need to have a country dont you?

and heres my answer to this uestion - you need a quality unique to your race;  i suggest genetically modifying embryos so that they are unusually large. i mean not only would you be creating your own race but you would be solving the problem of global warming ; if 70% of our bodies are water, just think how much water somebody from the race you make will be able to carry!! we need nevr worry about the icebergs meltin again! lol

Sorry, but you are a quite late and also a little early

If humans can successfully colonize Mars and terraform the planet you will have some land to try your plan.

The technology is available today, but we need lots of money and time. The terreform process would take 100 years to just barely make the planet less hostile and another 200 to make it similiar to earth.

Kind of funny that we would be intentionally building machines that generate green house gases into a planets atmosphere to warm it up but it would work in theory.

Then you could develop a very unique race. The people would begin to meet the terreform process halfway by making small adaptations.

As an example think of those natives in the himalyas who can climb everest with no oxygen tank!

After the terreaform your race may just have to wear a compression suit while everyone else has to be fully clad in a space suit.

For physical appearences, remember that the darker traits tend to be dominant

Quite ambitious, I will give you that. You probably already fall into to some ethnic/racial category, so I doubt there is anything "different" about you (unless you are a black man with naturally blue eyes or something).

Starting an entirely new race can take at least two-hundred years or so. Let's say, for example, you are a black man with blue eyes. You would then have to marry a close relative and isolate yourselves from the rest of the population. After you did that you would have to have lots of kids, and prevent the non-blue-eyed kids from having kids of their own. Pretty soon you would have a whole community full of blue-eyed black people.

That is if all goes well. When you have inbreeding you increase the risk of poor health and birth defects. Also, there are many things that can upset your grand plan. Maybe a plague will come and wipe everyone out. Maybe your kids will run out and marry whoever they want. Maybe the government will step in and put an end to it all like they did in Waco.

You have a cool idea, but I wouldn't try it if I were you.

Wow, an original question.

First of all you need isolation, so a clear off a big Island like New Zealand. Then pick a minimum of 25 breeding pairs, plus one for yourself. Remember, the more founders, the longer it takes for the group to develop unique and common characteristics.

Then sit back and reproduce like rabbits. You'd be looking at a minimum of 200 generations to see unifying or unique characteristics due to founder effect and genetic drift. You could speed this up with breeding for certain traits, or very basic genetic engineering.

There is no race but the human race in general. You're thinking of Ethnicity, and even that is kind of vague.

You'd have to use artificial selection over many, many generations, and selectively breed for the ethnic characteristics you want to enhance.

You could simply go and get more girls and make them your wife...The more wives you have, the more children you may get...and there you go, you have already accomplished one part of your race, the population. Now try settling for the next part, the habitat, find a good job or be lucky and win the lottery, buy a lot or land area or better yet, an island with a great area and put up your tribe or, much better to hear, your race.  Be creative enough to whatever religion, education, form of clothing, style of shelter, and ways of living you want your race would have... : )
