How can I start playing volleyball?

I really would like to be on the volleyball team at my high school next year, but I know next to nothing about volleyball. I've played it in P.E. a few times and know the 5 basic skills and all, but I'm afraid I'll make a fool of myself. How can I get ready this summer? I can't find any camps or lessons near me, so if you know of any, I'm in Stockton, California. Thanks :]

  1. You should start now by joining a club or something, to learn how to improve your skills and that.

Or you can get a personal trainer ?

  2. i'm in sacramento, and i go to delta valley clinic in lodi. they teach you soooo much, and they have a begnners camp there too

i've gone there every sunday for 2 years, and i've learned soooo much

this is the link to the delta valley page

make sure you read the red text in the right hand column

    http://www.deltavalleyvbc.net/

    cya there!

  3. Buy a ball. Play at your house.

Find a free wall and practice bumping, setting, and serving the ball against the wall.

  4. you should do a research on volleyball and their are volleyball games on tv sometimes. you should watch them and research all the moves of volleyball and what its basically about.of course its to keep the ball from touching the ground on your side of the court and make it touch the opposing team's side of the court. well i dont really live in california but you should research or google volleyball camps/lesson in california. you should be specific but not too specific when searching.
