How can I start storing extra breastmilk?

Question

I am breastfeeding, but want to start storing extra for when my husband can give her an occassional bottle. I plan to still primarily breastfeed, but want to incorporate a bottle once a day or so. How can I start stocking up on this breastmilk?Thanks!

I would only store breast milk for one  day so it wouldn't lose any of it nutrients .you can sterilize bottles and put the breast milk in them for up to ever how many times you nurse your baby per day. this will save you money having to buy those bags.

Well, when you give your little the bottle, then you pump.  They make really handy milk storage bags.  You write the date on it and the number of ounces and you put it in the freezer.  When you're ready to use it you run warm water over it and let your husband do the feeding.

I've read that you should pump half way between feedings. If your baby eats every 2 hours you will probably not get a lot of milk but if your baby has a stretch where he/she sleeps 4 hours it would be the best time to pump. Or if your baby only feeds on one breast at a feeding you can collect the milk from the other breast right after feeding. Good luck!

You can pump after a feed, pump one side while she feeds on the other, pump first thing in the morning, pump just before bed, whatever.  It all depends on what works for you and how much milk you need.

When she is nursing off from one breast pump the other breast. Or if she sleeps for an extended amount of time at night you could wake up and pump then.

Rent a hospital grade breast pump and buy breast milk bags that you can freeze.
