Question:

How can I stimulate my kitten to walk and play?

My cat had a litter of kittens 3 1/2 weeks ago, but only one of her five babies survived. Now the remaining kitten is thriving, but all she seems to do is lay and suckle from her mother. As a result, she is very fat, and just starting to crawl at 23 days old. I want to get her to play, but I need some ideas to help her become interested. She is a very healthy kitten, but her mother doesn't play and I want her to learn to walk better and play more.

  1. The kitten is too young to play.  But she will be playing soon, so you'll need to be patient.

Now is a good time to call your vet and set up an appointment for Mom to be neutered.  Don't forget the "baby" will need to see the vet too, it won't be long before it's time to begin her first round of inoculations.

    Good Luck!

  2. string toy.  just make sure to put it away when you are done using it.
