I made the messages from my yahoo group private and no longer show up on search engines like google. But the cached snapshot of that message is still in the search engine. Since I don't "own" the yahoo group and only manage it how do I go about taking it away from google?

  1. The group could be changed to Private - but I'm not sure if that would have any affect on a Google search!

I did a message search test on a Private group message, a moderated group, and an open group.

I didn't find ANY of the messages listed in Google?

Best Answer: Hi, I tried to get a cached page removed from yahoo, they say it takes 3-4 weeks for it to be updated as that how long it takes for it to crawl the web. Then I contacted google and made a request, it was removed in a few days. Now they seem to be gone from yahoo too. It will go away.

    Google "Cached Links" reference:

    http://www.google.com/intl/en/help/featu...

Google takes a snapshot of each page examined as it crawls the web and caches these as a back-up in case the original page is unavailable. If you click on the "Cached" link, you will see the web page as it looked when we indexed it. The cached content is the content Google uses to judge whether this page is a relevant match for your query.

When the cached page is displayed, it will have a header at the top which serves as a reminder that this is not necessarily the most recent version of the page. Terms that match your query are highlighted on the cached version to make it easier for you to see why your page is relevant.

The "Cached" link will be missing for sites that have not been indexed, as well as for sites whose owners have requested we not cache their content.
