How can I stop being lazy?

I hate it!

I'm such a lazy person, and I can't help it.

I tend to not clean up after myself, and I pretty much kinda slack off on some of my work. I can't really explain much, but I think it's pretty obvious to know what I'm getting to.

I eat just fine and I get exercise (mostly at school). But I just need to find a way to keep me from doing all these stupid things like: being irresponsible and forgetting homework at home, leaving my room a mess with clothes and all sorts of stuff on the ground, and all that other stuff. I just hate it but I can't help but to do that. Help?

  1. baby steps my adolescent friend, baby steps, when iwas younger i was the same way. then i started doing little things first like making a path so i could at least get to bed, then i moved on to other things. the more you get out and move about the more energy you will have to clean your room and exercise boost your brain as well. now i'm practically ocd when it comes to my house and weigh around 102 lbs. you could eat off my floors if you want to now but when i was young my room was so dirty you'd leave your shoes on to keep your socks clean.

  2. I dont know as well , i am very lazy i hate work for that i just want to go home and relax, i think its a lack of interest in life in general.

  3. make a checklist and check things off as you do them.  put in some lazy time so you know when you do a certain amount of things you can goof off.

  4. Write a kajillion notes to yourself, and post them everywhere so that you DON'T FORGET. *wonders if you will remember to read this*

  5. Totally been there! I am not so much any longer.  I make myself do things from start to finish...I just MAKE MYSELF finish it!  I know, easier said than done, but it works.  I now cannot even stand to have my dishes sitting next to me or my clothing on the floor by me.  It becomes so ingrained that you don't like the old ways anymore!  Good Luck Babes, Lori B

  6. start with one thing and stick with it til it becomes a habit.

ex. if you leave worn clothes on the ground go out and buy a h hamper and train yourself to throw everything in there or if you forget your homework, get a planner and learn to look at the board and write down assignments before or after each class and then keep a sticky note that says "check planner" on the one thing you always go to when you get home (aka on the computer or TV screen, refreg. door ect.)

small stuff like that will help a ton and soon they'll become habits and you can add on to them and they wont feel like work anymore! :) best wishes!

  7. 1) Try doing something you know you need to do for just 10 or 15 minutes...set a timer...when the timer goes off, you can stop.  A lot of the time, though, you will find that you either want to keep working so you can finish OR that you were able to finish in a much shorter time than you thought.  So, then you realize that the things you have been dreading doing really aren't that big a deal (cleaning up, doing assignments, etc.)

    2) Try to find a friend at school who seems motivated to get stuff done - ask them for help (reminders about assignments, etc.)

    3) Talk with you parents or a teacher about it - good teachers (and parents) know lots of strategies for keeping you organized and helping you take responsibility for yourself (sounds like no one every showed you this stuff?)  A few ideas:

Record all your assigments in a calendar/agenda, review it at home and check things off as you complete them (but you really have to write everything down AND look at it at home AND do the stuff AND check it off.)  It doesn't work if you just carry the calendar around in the bottom of your bag. :-)

Empty your backpack as soon as you get home - chances are there will be something (like a notice or book) that will remind you of what you have to do.

Then, repack your backpack/bag the night before and leave it by the door - if your trying to shove stuff in there in the morning you will always forget something because you are probably half asleep or late (or both)

Join a team or club or get some sort of job outside of school...sounds funny, but I always find that I am much better about managing my time and responsibilities when I have a lot to do...too much free time is dangerous for procrastinators.

AND, don't be too hard on yourself...figuring out how to manage your time is all part of growing up

  8. you're like my mother!!!

  9. I'm guessing you're a teenager. Clothes on the floor, forgetting homework, irresponsible. Make a schedule and STICK to it. Do what you said you were going to do, don't procrastinate. DO IT NOW. Get home, eat, shower, schoolwork, put it in your backpack, responsibilities, dinner, responsibilities, tv, computer, whatever, bed. Then comes another day.

Pick a day to clean your room, when you put clothes on the floor, pick them up and put them in the dirty pile or hang it or fold. Don't leave them on the floor. I hate that. I do it sometimes too. My room is messy, I feel lazy, but I clean anyways just to get it done and over with.
