I have worked hard to make my garden quite lovely and now some cats are doing their business in my garden & I'm looking for a natural/harmless way of stopping them. I was told that I can get a plant that will do the job, but the person who told me couldn't remember the name of the plant, hence my question.

  1. whenever you see an unwatned cat in your garden, squirt it with a water pistol  its not cruel it just teaches the cat to saty away, its an effective tequniqe that teaches cats to stay away in a couple of times of the cat bbeing squirted

  2. Sit at the window and when they walk into your garden, shake your fist and yell, "Hey you cats, get out of my garden! I know who you are. I can see you."

    Stuff like that.

  3. Cats hate mothballs so sprinkle some mothball crystals in your garden!

  4. Leaving glass bottles out (like old fashioned milk bottles) reflects light back at cats' eyes and they are scared away.

Then other fail safe one that works is urinating on your lawn...or I suggest maybe in a cup in a bathroom and then pouring over your lawn...sick I know but it marks territory and they stay away...and its good for your soil!!

  5. I was told that moth balls sprinkled throught, or moth ball crystals, you can find both at WalMart. The crystals are located in the isle where the hangers, and closet items are at. Good Luck!

  6. Grate some orange or grapefruit or lemon peel over the garden. They don't like the citrus smell - hence the citronella in commercial products.

  7. its called  a big dog or rock salt in your shot gun.

  8. Spread some cayenne pepper around. They will leave.

  9. Hello Mary, this link may be what you are looking for, Coleus Canina.

  10. Getta dog, train it to patrol the garden.

  11. very hot chilli powder - buy a really big bag from a cash and carry and put it on the soil. my next door neighbours cat used to c**p right outside my front door. horrible - you had to check every day or you stood in it. the chilli powder worked wonders.

  12. I use a product called "Get Off My Garden"...it comes in a bottle, usually sold at Canadian Tire, nursery/garden centre, Home Hardware, etc. It is little gel cubes that are green in color, and smells like citronella. Cats (and dogs) do not like the smell...it will last for about a month, even in rain, but the rain will eventually leech the citronella away, so will not last as long...

As for the "plant"...I just know them as "p**s Off" plants at the local garden centers. They also have a citronella smell to them which cats & dogs (and other critters) do not like too much ;).

    Happy Gardening!
