How can I stop feeling guilty about eating?

I'm recovering from under-eating issues. I'm still gaining weight back and I'm eating 2400-2600 calories a day. I've accepted that I have to gain weight and eat again and I've been able to do it without relapsing for about a month now, but I hate it. I feel horrible about every bite I take and I feel disgustingly fat. I'm also obsessed with counting calories and planning out meals and I go crazy if I mess something up. I'm just wondering if anyone's been through this and if you ever eventually felt comfortable with eating again.

  1. That seems unhealthy to take in that many calories a day.  You especially don't want to get in the habit of eating that many because then once you reach your ideal weight you might not stop eating that much and balloon up.  I think it's probably better to be underweight than overweight so you should put the pounds on slower.  Especially since you're probably eating a lot of unhealthy stuff to pack in that many calories.  Depending on your weight you should probably just eat between 1800-2000 calories per day.  It's hard to not feel bad about eating though.. It's just something you have to deal with when you're a girl and you care about the way you look.

  2. To keep things brief and simple, I suggest just to focus on the part that you need to do this for the sake of your own health. Otherwise, you can also pair this routine of yours up by seeing a therapist. Best of luck to you.

  3. Exercise as well. Knowing you're building muscle puts the thought of weight gaining in the back of your head.

I know exactly what you are going though. I started eating more and jogged at night when it was nice and cool out. Not only does it help, it gives you time to think without all the busy world going by.

Best of luck. I do feel comfortable because I know I'm building muscle, not just putting on weight.

  4. See a psychologist or get a referral to a psychiatrist who specialises in eating disorders. Most eating disorders are due to low self esteem.

  5. Congratulations on gaining your weight back and accepting that you have to gain weight and eat again.

Most people dont focus on food when they are eating, nor do they feel disgustingly fat, they dont obsess over calories or planning meals, nor do they go crazy if they mess something up.

Just take it one day at a time and relax around food, make sure that you are eating enough to get a full stomach.

  6. You'll stop feeling guilty once you accept the body you have that God blessed you with. No matter your weight. Keep your mind off of the calories every time you eat, think of something that makes you smile. Also, get influence from your friends, in a positive way, that will make you feel more comfortable with yourself.
