Wage garnishment amounts are determined by your states laws, NOT by what some creditor wants.   Some states have their own limits and others follow the federal guidelines.  Some states even prohibit wage garnishment.

You can't and since you work, they can legally take the money out of your wages.  They can only take a portion of your money, but it is not determined by what you think you can afford, it is determined by law.   Once they get a judgement against you, if you work, they are able to garnishee your check, so you have no say so in regards to the amount.
