I have been told that I grind my teeth and have done so since I was a little girl. I have no idea that I do it since I'm sleeping. What can I do to stop? Why do I even grind my teeth in the first place?

  1. I have read somewhere that its the body's natural way of correcting teeth alignment.

Other than that it could just be a habit and as others have said try getting a mouth guard of some sort from your dentist.

  2. Well, unfortunately, you can't stop it. But you can go to Wal*Mart and buy special appliances to keep you from grinding your teeth at night, these should help!

And here's a site where u can read more about grinding your teeth, actually a disorder called "bruxism":

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bruxism

If you have any more problems, ask your dentist :)

  3. Its called Bruxism, and it sucks! Ive also grinded my teeth all my life, i had to get a teeth "splint" made, to cover my top teeth. Visit your local dentist and see what they think.

    Goodluck!

  4. its probably just a habbit (my brother does it in his sleep too) and theres not much you can do about it when your sleeping

    you could ask a dentist

or you can go to a local drug store and see if you can buy teeth guards for night time...they usually are labled with a refrence to teeth grinding

  5. Chew gum, suck on mints, bite your tongue.

    Find a diffrent habbit.

Lots of people grind their teeth, so don't even worry about it.

  6. grinding teeth is pretty common, not sure what the cause, could be stress  related. go to you're dentist and he/she will prob fit you with a special tooth guard that you wear at night to prevent you from damaging your teeth.

  7. There are plastic mouth guards that you can wear during the night and chewing gum all day at least helps prevent any damage to your teeth.

  8. Its just a neurological thing your body does. there is no real way to stop it unfortunately. try wearing a mouth guard at night or something of that sort.
