I have diabetes and high cholesterol, I'm 35 an i weigh 235 lbs and i'm 5 ft.8. I am addicted to food. I eat sweets everyday! cookies, cake whatever. I eat fast food almost daily and I rarely eat fruits and veggies. I can diet for a week or so tops and then i'm doing it again. I am constantly tired and depressed. I've been in an abusive marriage for 14 years and i'm leaving soon. Do you think this abuse is the reason why i'm killing myself with food? Please if you know anyone who's been through this please tell me what to do..how to stick to it, i want to change!!!

  1. Food is not an addiction, its an excuse.

    Be fat be happy

  2. oh dear lord.. first get  out of that relasionship ASAP!! then for the food thing do not diet go gradually and if you eat emotionally find other ways to deal with those feelings. if you try to stop cold turkey it will never work. and get some support from people friends family online chat rooms anything that will help you

  3. Of course it is why. Very common to eat your problems away. You should eat better things, like jello, or sugarless jello. Weight watchers has a substitution diet, that you basically eat constantly, and lose 15 lbs. every 2 weeks! There is a substitution for everything on every day plan that they have, so you eat all of what you want and lose the weight while doing so. I wish I had the room to send it to you, but it's a 7-Day meal plan, 3 different diet styles to choose from, and 3 weeks of all 3 menus (low budget food, regular food, and gourmet food) you choose the menu closest to what you like to eat, and across the bottom for every food catagory there are all the choices of what can be substituted in each group. (like if you don't like an orange you can have..., if you don't want fish, you can have...) You can also check out The Adkins Diet, (book) as it also has the same kind of menu set up, and professional skiers use it to get in shape fast. Anyway, add 3 pieces of fruit per day, to whatever you're eating, and make sure you have at least 8 full glasses of water a day, and you will lose weight, and be full so you aren't craving so much. Good luck!

  4. my first advice would be to see a nutritionist. they specialize in dealing with healthy eating habits. i included a link to a good one i used to use (shes really nice!!) its also highly possible your health insurance will cover it if u are significantly over weight. even if they don't your health is a good investment. until then try your hardest to drink only water. this is a good first step because it will help make u feel fuller and cuts out all calories from drinks.

good luck and i know u can do it!

  5. Just stop. Look at yourself in the mirror...you're not happy with yourself then change! Before it is too late.

  6. Move to the Third World. Eating will become something that you do to sustain your life, as opposed to a past-time.

  7. if you having a craving for sweets, anykind..here is a wonderful trick..... eat a serving of fruit, melon, one apple, an orange, with a tall glass of chilled water. Your sweet cravings will just leave. and do this when you feel the crave. Also don't buy junk food. Its harsh at first so just buy less for right now, then soon you will have less of a craving for it.

Because you have a few health conditions i think there is no excuse to why you cant change your habits. You will gain better health and maybe loose pounds. You'll just feel really good if you do good things for yourself. And its not just about making your tastebuds happy. You might have to eat some gnarly looking veggie or taste foods out side the kinds you normally eat. By what you listed i think you like amercian food, like burgers and stuff. i dooooo toooo.

Actually, this might sound weird, but i love asian food, and i like chopsticks, so i brought a nice pair.

Now i eat nearly ever dinner with chopsticks. i feel like i chew my food more better and i get to taste it, not just eat. IDK if you know how but use chopsticks when you eat meals. I just feel like healthier, honestly, when i use chopsticks.

if you start eating healthy you will feel alot more better. it ok to eat fast food but it shouldn't be daily. I'm sorry your marriage is ending but i think it'll be for your better. This is very problematic, the emotional stress and financial stress. It will make you eat more especially is eating is comforting to you. Just do it for yourself because you need to get yourself some will power and want to keep on living.

It comes down to your body and your spirit. You need your body to house your spirit. Just try your best to lift your spirit up everyday. All of your issues will get figured out with time.

i honestly wish you the best of luck, God Bless you and yours!!!

  8. Well. try to get your mind off of it. theres tones of things you can do. just stop eating junk food! do something that you like? idk. shopping, excersise, dancing etc. whatever. just not food

  9. you have to first address the depression. that is making you use food as a tranquilizer. depression affects everything, and unless u treat it, it doesnt go away. there are enough medications. they take around 4 weeks but make a helluva difference. pl pl see a psychiatrist asap. find one you are going to like.

to reduce cravings for sweets, fill up on complex carbs. have glutamine powder am/pm. i am giving you a diet. but first get treated. for a workable diet

here is what my dietician suggests .  follow a practical diet. start your meal with a soup or a huge salad. this fills u up. Make sure your plate has this ratio - 50 per cent  veg, 25 per cent  carb.  remember potatoes, corn and peas come in carbs category, 25 per cent  protein.this will prevent cravings too.an occassional treat is OK. have a snack every three hours. fruit ideally berries,  or soy nuts. just 2 tbsp of soya subsides hunger pangs. switch from white rice and bread to brown. eat 900gms of veggies a day.Lose a kilo a week. that is  permanent loss.  pick an exercise regime you like.

get a pedometer and  try to take 10,000 steps everyday.
