How can I stop lava? please answer! :)?

Question

I am doing a "Fantasy" story for school. And in the story we travel to a volcanoe where it erupts. How can i stop it?

if it's a fantasy already, have Superman drop in.  or better yet, Lavaman!  wait, how about Lava-woman!?  she can be very hot!!

You can't stop it, but it can sometimes be diverted with barriers if they're big enough.

Iceland managed to control lava flows by pumping huge amounts of sea water onto the advancing fronts.  The Icelanders did a lot of work calculating the best points to 'freeze' the fronts to force the flows to turn (slightly) and freeze where they would do the least damage and force the flow away from a town at risk.

I can not remember any of the numbers of flow rates of the pumps  and the amount of effort that went into this successful rescue but it wass well described in a New Yorker Magazine  (in 2 parts Feb 22 and Feb 29, 1988).  The articles arein the Control of Nature series, titled Cooling the Flow.   You can not read the articles on line, only abstracts, but you can find the magazines in any decent library.  It would be the basis of a good fantasy story.

Try creating a land slide by pushing a boulder down the side of the mountain which diverts the flow into a quick moving river coming from the lake that was in the volcano?

Or squirt it with a super soaker

If you drill a massive nuclear bomb into the center of the earth you could blow it up, like they did with that asteroid in "Armagedden." Then an erupting volcano will be the least of everyone's problems.
