Question:

How can I stop my allergies from waking me up?

I'm 17 but feel totally exhausted. I may not be a morning person but after an hour I'm usually good to go but I feel oddly sleep deprived and I'm assuming it's because of my allergies waking me up in the morning. Anti-histamines work when I go to bed but a few hours latter they wear off and i wake up at like 3 am because of a stupid runny nose and red eyes. Any suggestions, help?

  1. Get a good air purifier with a HEPA filter and put it in your bedroom.

  2. I feel for you. I took over the counter and prescription stuff and I was always drowsy and couldn't stand it because I could hardly function.

Then my allergist wanted me on shots. My nurse friend had me try Isotonix OPC-3 which is all natural. After trying everything else I was desperate but skeptical.

It's been six months and I am allergy free.

  3. well one way would be to before you go to bed drink lots of water and try to take the things your allergic to away from you as possible, and dont eat anything when you go to sleep because the little bits of food might be irritating you that's what irritates me

  4. Try using a humidifier in conjunction with an antihistamine. You might try using a longer acting or "slow release" 8 hour antihistamine for night time

  5. Hello Julie!

I think that taking your anti-histamine pill as late as possible, like directly before you go to bed can solve the problem. However, if you are already doing this, I suggest switching to another medication with a longer duration of action, or perhaps increasing the dose of the medication you are already using. You have not mentioned the name of your drug. So you should have a talk with your pharmacist.

Several things that may sound minor but really they are not should be done. Make sure that the room you sleep in is free from all the allergens that you are sensitive of. Good ventilation will help. Animal or pet dandruff should be swept frequently. Avoid any air fresheners or perfumes. Better not to have any plants or flowers near you during your sleep.

    God bless.
