Even on low heat settings. It takes forever to bring to a boil on my flattop stove and if I stop stiring for a minute everything sticks to the bottom and burns. This is a large 5 gallon pot, I use many times a week, but am ready to throw it out. Any Ideas?

  1. Throw that out! Aluminum pots are dangerous, the aluminum seeps into the food. Its highly toxic.

Get a stainless steel stockpot, or even better stainless steel with an aluminum core inside (its a good heat conductor, but should never touch your food).

  2. It sounds like you need a stock pot with a heavier bottom.   Like an All-Clad for example.  If it something you use many times  week then it's worth buying a high quality one.

  3. A heat defuser, there cheap, easy to find, gives that extra layer
