Question:

How can I stop my cat from throwing up?

My 2 year old short hair cat is throwing up occasionally (once every 2-3 weeks). She doesn't seem ill, still eats and drinks normally. I'm not sure why she throws up, but is there anything I can do to reduce this?

Thanks!

  1. put her dish up on a stool. the higher it is, the slower she eats. this helped my cat! she was throwing up 2-3 times a week =/ but now shes stopped since we did that. try using a special food designed for sensitive stomachs for a few weeks.

  2. give them some vassaline and rub his throat! trust me it works

  3. really depends on the reason for the vomiting.  Is it hairballs? then grooming and hairball treatments will help.  Is she eating dry food?  dry food often expands in the stomach, causing there to be more food than the stomach can handle.  Feeding wet food should help that.  Is it a medical condition?  then a vet could and should help out and be involved in the care.

  4. I think its just nature! I have 3 and they all do it. They always eat grass to help them be sick. Its weird. Maybe its their way of cleaning their systems out.. Sorry if im wrong! :S

  5. i always say to get the iam's food for digestive i had a 3 year old cat that did threw up every now and then but give the cat that and it will help him A LOT  so please do that and he'll feel much better i think its like 14$ but all you need it is one time and its in a pink bag

    P.S.hope that helped=}

  6. hairballs/see what vet recommends there are many choices

  7. Probably a hair ball. Try kitty-grass, my cats love to eat it and it helps them throwing up the hair ball.

  8. TRY A FOOD OE CAT TREATS WITH/FOR HAIRBALL CONTROL OR TRY THE STICKY STUFF YOU PUT ON THEIR PAW AND THEY l**k IT OFF, THAT WORKS THE BEST ON HAIRBALLS

  9. my cat always throws up too! we think it is just a hairball, but sometimes we see food in it. your cat may have a bad digestive system too! i suggest that you get hairball control cat food, that helped us! :)

  10. My cat did the same thing.  I started feeding her the easy to digest cat food and she stopped throwing up.  You should be able to find the food at any large retail store.

  11. Would you mind telling me what kind of cat food your cat eats?

    My cat had this issue a few years back and it got to the point where my cat was throwing up after every meal and my parents were fed up. I did a bit of research and found out that some cat foods contain a lot of corn and other 'filler' substances.

    My cat couldn't eat anything with corn in it, such as Iams. Try switching up your cat food. I used to feed my cat Iams, but now I feed him 'd**k Van Patten's Natural Balance." It doesn't contain wheat, barley, rice, or corn. But other than that, maybe you could try and feed your cat less at once. Do you leave a bowl of food down in the day? If so, maybe you should pick one or two designated times for feeding. Good Luck:)
